KOUSYU is a calligrapher, an artist, a member of The Mainichi Shodo Association and a general instructor of the Shodo Geijutsu-In Foundation(Japanese Calligraphy Art Association). She began learning calligraphy at the age of five.
She expresses the emotion, essence and elements of characters as art, based on her solid skills of writing in five different calligraphy
styles. Since 1999, she has been selected for the Mainichi Shodo Exhibition a total of 10 times, and in 2014 she won the Shun’ei Prize at the 67th Shodo Geijutsu-In Exhibition. She is also active as an artist. She works to sublimate the traditional Japanese culture of calligraphy into contemporary art and spread it around the world.
